Frederic de Mariz

Frederic de Mariz, PhD is Head of ESG Advisory for UBS in Latin America, a function he set up in 2020. Frederic is also an adjunct Professor at Columbia University on impact investing and sustainable finance. Prior to ESG, he was an investment banker covering the FinTech sector. He was previously a senior equity research analyst, being consistently ranked among the top 3 in independent industry surveys, such as Institutional Investors (#2 2018), Starmine (#1 2017), Euromoney (#1 in Impact Investing 2017). His areas of expertise include ESG, impact investing, financial services, FinTech and entrepreneurship. Frederic has Master’s degrees from Columbia University (International Affairs), Sorbonne (History), Sciences Po. (Public Policy), and ESSEC (MBA). He completed his PhD in Finance at University of Sao Paulo, analyzing how financial services can lead to improved financial inclusion in Brazil. Frederic has published a number of academic articles and his most recent book “Finance with a Purpose” was published in 2022 (World Scientific). He represents UBS at Anbima and is an independent member of the Sustainability Committee of Wickbold.
